In 2019, Telford & Wrekin Council declared a climate emergency. It is now working, along with partners, to go carbon neutral by 2030 – and to reduce single-use plastic across the council by 2023!

Plastic Free Litter Picking in Telford and Wrekin

As part of Keep Britain Tidy, Telford and Wrekin organised a number of community litter picks to reduce plastic pollution in the Borough.

Telford & Wrekin Council and local communities came together to support Keep Britain Tidy’s annual Great British Spring Clean this year.

Councillors, council staff, Street Champions, Climate Change Champions, Community Action Teams, community groups, individuals and businesses all got involved and spread across Telford to pick litter from our streets.

Communities that took part with local Plastic Free litter picks this year were:

  • Rough Park, Woodside
  • Ironbridge
  • Dawley Pools
  • Dawley Park and Malinslee
  • Wellington area
  • Oakengates/The Cockshutt
  • Admaston Green
